CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Featured
Mondays 7 - 8PM | Get Down 101 (Beginner)

For absolute beginners who just want to dance! Students will learn basic hip hop movements such as the two-step, bobbing their head, simple choreography and all the favorite party dances from the 80s 'til now!

Mondays 8 - 9PM | Locking (Beg/Int)

This locking class is designed to educate students on the foundations of the street style dance called Locking. We will cover beginning to advanced techniques. Students will drill, train and practice as well as learn choreography to better their own groove.

Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:00PM | CAPOEIRA

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines dance, music, and acrobatics. It is a creative art form that teaches culture, self-defense, physical fitness, and promotes self expression.

Tuesdays 8 - 9PM | Get Down 102

Prerequisite: MUST have completed Get Down 101 AND MUST be approved by instructor. Before enrolling, msg the studio.

Elevate your dance moves further! In class, we will learn more variations and techniques of the moves we already know. We will play with tempo changes and work on memory skills with more advanced choreography. The class will be mostly freestyle focused.

Wednesdays 7 - 8PM | Get Down 101 (Beginner)

For absolute beginners who just want to dance! Students will learn basic hip hop movements such as the two-step, bobbing their head, simple choreography and all the favorite party dances from the 80s 'til now!

Wednesdays 8 - 9PM | HUSTLE (Mixed Level)

Students will learn the basic foundations of Hustle along with the freedom, variation of footwork and style as well as rhythm changes connecting with today's music and generation. Students will enjoy learning from me as I will bring about their own individual dance styles into what they learned from class.

No partner necessary. Beginner friendly!

Thursdays 7 - 8PM | House (Mixed Level)

This class will break down the basic rhythms and moves of house dance such as jacking, shuffle, loose leg, and more. Students will drill these moves to help build a solid foundation which will allow them to dance freely to house music. In addition, students will learn different movements to Tribal, Soulful, Deep, and House-Infused rhythms. 

Thursdays 8 - 9PM | House Movement & Exploration (Int)

This class takes your house dancing to the next level, with a focus on cyphering and finding your own style. In this class, students will train and drill, with the possibility to perform.

Thursdays 8-9PM | Beginning Salsa Partnerwork

No partner required to register!

Attire: Comfortable clothing, shoes that do not slip off your feet and do not have too much grip.

A salsa program designed to teach students the technique behind salsa dancing. It will start at a basic level and progress to intermediate moves. Along with mastering the basic moves, students will learn about the music, history and culture that makes Salsa the vibrant street dance it is today.

Thursdays 9-10PM | Intermediate Salsa Partnerwork

No partner required!

Time to take your salsa dancing to the next level! Along with learning more complicated patterns, students will refine the basic moves with more advanced leading/following concepts. Emphasis will also be on timing, musicality, and how to put the ‘sabor’, or flavor, into dancing salsa!

Attire: Comfortable clothing, shoes that do not slip off your feet and do not have too much grip.

Fridays 7 - 8PM | Waacking

Waacking (whacking/punking) is a powerful dance style that allows individuals to express their uniqueness. In class, students will learn the history and foundations of Waacking and focus on drills, character, musicality, and freely exploring movements. In Waacking, there is more than just the physical aspect; it encourages individuals to open up emotionally and energetically. This class will guide students to discover their own style.

Fridays 8 - 9PM | Waacking (Int)

Location: Elusive Room

In this next level of Waacking, students will explore more of what moves them and how to add their own unique personality. We will help them develop their freestyle and encourage them to gain more confidence and use this dance style to express their emotions.

Fridays 8 - 9PM | Beginning Breaking for Adults

This class introduces adults to the foundations of breaking—toprock, footwork, transitions, and freezes—while building strength, coordination, and rhythm. You’ll develop confidence through movement, explore your own unique style, and get a great workout in the process. Open to all levels, no dance experience needed!

TUITION

  • Payment is due at time of registration. If not paid within 8 days or BEFORE the start of the first day of class, whichever comes first, a $25 late fee will be applied.

  • If paying in monthly installments, must enroll in auto pay AND send message to info@getdowndancestudios.com to set up payments.

  • A small processing fee applies to credit card payments only. Debit card and ACH (bank account) payments are not subject to this fee.

  • For monthly installments, payment must be delivered by the 1st of every month. After the 8th of the month, your account will be considered late and a $25 late fee will be applied. 

  • If payment has not been received and student is a no-show on the first day of class without informing the studio of reason for absence or intent to continue, student’s spot will be offered to next person on Waitlist. 

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

  • Tuition includes a $35 Annual Registration Fee, charged annually in August. New students are charged ARF the first time attending our studio.

  • Tuition can be paid in full or in monthly installments. **If paying in monthly installments, send message to info@getdowndancestudios.com to set up payments. MUST ENROLL FOR AUTO PAY.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We are an intimate space, so please wait outside for your class to start. The instructors will open the doors.

  • If tuition has not been paid AND student is absent on the first day of class without any communication, we will offer student's spot to the next person on the waitlist. 

  • Street parking is FREE after 6pm.

    • Comfortable clothes that you can freely dance in! 

    • Be considerate and wear deodorant! 

    • If you are taking multiple classes in 1 day, please bring a towel and an extra shirt. For example, if you are taking the house class on Thursdays 7pm, and then beginning salsa on Thursdays at 8pm, MAKE SURE TO BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES AND DEODORANT.

    • Wear shoes that you can comfortably move around in. No flip flops. 

    • For salsa classes and hustle: 

      • Please wear shoes that are secure on your feet. If intereseted, we can offer online recommendations. *It is not necessary to buy dance shoes.

      • We rotate throughout the class frequently, please be mindful of your partners. It is common to chew gum or have breath mints while dancing.

    • Trials may be scheduled as long as there is still space in the class and with instructor approval. A trial is $30, and MUST be scheduled via email to info@getdowndancestudios.com.

    • DROP-INS - We typically do not offer drop-ins as our classes are progressive, and our classes fill up quickly with many on the Waitlist. To ensure we provide the most optimal experience for all, please email info@getdowndancestudios.com to see if a drop-in can be scheduled. Drop-ins are $30/class.

  • There are no refunds, exchanges, or credits for missed classes. Students must notify The Get Down prior to the class meeting time if will be absent from class.

  • If there are any doubts about your health (unusually tired, not hungry, etc.) please STAY HOME to prevent the spread of the illness.

  • We schedule one showcase for the Fall session and one for the Spring session. The showcase is usually after the last day of the session, but specific dates, location and tickets will be determined at a later time. There may be other opportunities to perform at local community centers, events and festivals. 

  • If you need to cancel your enrollment, please submit a written notice via email at least 2 weeks before the start of the new session. If notice is given before this 2-week window, we will issue a partial refund, retaining either the registration fee or a $35 administrative fee, whichever applies.

    If the session has already started, please email us with your intent to withdraw. At that point:

    • If you are on a monthly payment plan, we will complete billing for the current month and cancel the remainder of the session.

    • If you paid in full at the start of the session, we will issue a prorated refund for any unused classes, minus a $35 cancellation fee to cover administrative costs.

    The $35 cancellation fee applies to all mid-season cancellations, regardless of payment method.

  • The Get Down sends communication solely through email and in-person. Please ensure that email address and contact information are up to date and is checked regularly.
