Hello San Jose! Capoeira Irmandade and The Get Down are once again hosting a beginners workshop for Capoeira. Our first class was a hit, so we're bringing it back :D Whether you were part of the first workshop and want to build on what you learned, or you've never tried capoeira before, we invite you to join us. This is an all-levels workshop; we'll learn basics for those who are new, and intermediate moves for those who want to push themselves. Emphasis will be on interacting with partners.

When: Saturday, August 26
Time: 3:30 - 5:30pm
Cost: $20
Tickets at the door.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, music, and self-expression. It shares many movements with breakdancing and tricking. The workshop will be taught by Capoeira Professor Bochecha (Dan Young), who has 16 years experience in training and teaching capoeira around the world.

Proceeds go to making our Batizado (annual belt ceremony/capoeira festival) possible. We will start at 4:30, but it wouldn't hurt to get there a little early to warm-up and stretch. Bring water and loose pants, and expect to sweat!
